When people talk about liposculpture they are referring to the removal of fat deposits in the body that is localized as a way of contouring your body. Excess fat can be found in different area for men and women, but the most common locations include the back, your abdominal area, calves, buttocks or your outer/inner thighs. There is also facial liposculpture, which include the areas of the neck, jowl, and chin. The patient can also have breast liposculpture to reduce the breasts of men or women.
The procedures are done using general or local anesthesia and can take up to two or more hours. It all depends whether it is a small or big volume liposculpture. The time it takes to do the procedure is figured on the number of areas that are going to be treated and the type of method the cosmetic surgeon is going to use. After having this procedure you may see temporary bruising, soreness, and swelling.
Normally you can resume all your normal activities in one to two weeks but it may take two to four weeks to be able to do any type of strenuous activity. In order to avoid having a long recovery time period and to help ensure that the areas heal properly the patient should stop smoking or at least refrain from smoking during this time.
After the cosmetic procedures, the results are permanent because the fat cells that were targeted have been removed permanently, but in order to keep the results the patient need to have a healthy diet and have a regular exercise program.
